Hi all..

One thing I really miss on 'the bridge' is a Tacho. Thinking of retro fitting but not quite sure what might be a suitable unit. All advice gratefully recieved on these two from the bay of fleeze pleeze

I prefer analogue for older motors but the LED type looks nice too and no mechanical movement to fail or stick. Cheap too, so the old adage 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind. Pity they are only available at 8000 rpm and I assume that they have a selector for 6 or 4 cylinder motors (might be worth emailing the seller to confirm.

Thanks for the linkage. I do prefer that TIM tacho actually. And other point taken about value/price, 'buy cheap buy twice' as another old saying goes, though the price of some of those tachos on the DemonTweeks site are at the other end of the scale !

Kev.. is your guage pod also from DemonTweeks ? It has a nice compact foot compared to some.

There was also a good 'show us your guages' post on here a while back, but I cant find it now. That picture looks familiar.

i allways use TIM gauges they are easy to fit and never(touch wood) go wrong , for the money they are cracking ....

Bingo. Just bought a new TIM tacho (like the KevRev one above). £22.

Yes ta. I did all my homework but the van is at the farm now having some other work done, so I'm getting tacho fitted while it's there.

Now trying to resist the temptation to fit a digital voltmeter.

Hi Kevtherev..
I'm going to be attempting to fit my tacho soon, could I take you up on the offer of the cabling advice?
I have a 1989 transporter 1.9DG, I believe there are two options, one to wire via the fusebox or two via the multipin connector under the dashpod

yes muti pin connector is good.
I, however, chose to connect it to the coil (blue wire) and run it up to the dash via all the other cables that run along that route.

no other reason than I didn't know about the pin when I fitted it
