Automatic Starter Motor

My starter has packed in and it's an early one, May 1981 and it's for an automatic. Looking on the JK website they do 2 and mine is (of course)the most expensive, early one. The only diffence I can see is mine has the solenoid off centre compared to the lugs and the lat one is central. And my solenoid has 3 screws to hold it in and the other one only has 2. Does anybody know if the 2 are interchangeable?

Hi dont know answer to your question but have you thought about having said starter rebuilt,can be alot cheaper than buying new.

Yeah, but I'm working in Germany so wouldn't know who to ring or where to go. Army Phil has been really helping me out and got a price for a new one, but the later one is a lot cheaper. Don't mind too much buying new, he says through gritted teeth, but if the later one fits then jobs a good un so to speak.
