Best Type of Filler?

I can just see some of the responses to this question already! I'll be getting the very rusty/holey bits repaired properly, but there are a few little bits where I think filler will do the job. So my question is, what is the best type of filler to use? There are so many different types, and I want to get one that will do a good job. I'll be rollering the van when the weather gets better (my 2 tins already here!). What type would you recommend?

I used to use Isopon P38, don't know if it's still about.

Yes P38 is the one to use

Remember to buy the little tube of hardener with it! Took me a few failed attempts before I caved in, read the tin and realised what I was missing!

Oh... that's a bit pointless then. So is welding the only way to make it last then? I'm resigned to getting someone to do the big bits (rusted through panels, hole in the floor, etc.), but there are little bits of rust all over the place I keep finding, some of it cosmetic, but it'll cost a fortune to have it all done.

Any of you mechanical, welder-types single by any chance?! (joke! )

Just make sure it's as dry as an Arabs foot before painting it, don't use water to rub it down for instance

if you can't guarantee it won't see moisture ...it'll bubble up after the rain

The best filler is no filler but sometimes its unavoidable. Pointless filling corroded sections though as it'll soon be back. Filler is ok for minor dents in my view but not much use for repair work other than in the short term. What you trying to fill?

P40 is only good for holes not for filling dents

but it is waterproof

he's right 'glass resin is a very good sealant.
Fibre glass will suffer with osmosis if it isn't sealed well with a thick layer of paint .

My friend has a yacht made from Fibreglass as the outside paint dulled, it became porous, the fibreglass fibres then soaked up this moisture, expanded and cracked the hull
