Upper wishbone bushes

Post by T25 bad boy »

Hi Guys, I have been quoted £200 + VAT to change my upper wishbone bushes, This seems quite expensive to me or is this about right. I am getting squeeking when driving and steering and was told this is because the bushes were worn. Cheers Guys!!!! :ok

£50 plus VAT or there abouts in parts
Couple of hours, £75+VAT
Wheel alignment - £40+VAT..
Doesn't sound too far off the mark.
Depends on which parts they use, if you can still get the bushes from VW, they were £25 each, bottom of the pile cheap toss from GSF are about a tenner each.
Also depends on what you get for your money, you can get away with marking the camber settings and just replace it back to where it was, not ideal but usually works, if they do that you don't want to be paying for the wheel alignment doing.

I have been looking at this as mine do the same (common issue).

Price is about what I have been quoted.

I was researching the subject and came across a right load of yadda yadda on the Samba forum, but it appears, as Simon says, there are different quality makes and some cheap ones fail, producing the annoying squeaking, very quickly. So get decent ones ( Brickerks have a reputation for only selling good quality products - see http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?p ... t&Itemid=6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )
