onecogwonder wrote:hmmm...still thinking about coming down to hook up with you guys on one of the dates, syncro is running fine now however I have no "off road specific" equipment apart from a shovel and BFG A/Ts! How much equipment do you guys take when you go out, do you need all the bash plates and bull bars/winches or is it just a mellow drive about in the mud?

There is a choice of lanes, Roger has some more demanding ones up his sleeve, but I know some very scenic ones that are enjoyable and wont tax the underside of the vehicle. There may well be a convoy from J27 on the M5 for those heading South.

Good lanes, good company and some fine countryside in the heart of Dartmoor and the South Hams is on the cards. If you like your syncro you will have a lot of fun. No tow rope needed. As Torchy proved on the syncrospares meet you can off road on road tyres on the milder lanes.

All are welcome, and usually there are a few spare seats for those with mechanical difficulties.

Hello Phil!

You should definitely come along, i reckon there's quite a few lanes around Dartmoor that your van would be fine on. Would certainly be interesting anyway!

There seems to be quite a few people coming so perhaps we better get a list going - please indicate whether you prefer the scenic route or the more demanding one (possible damage to van).

Copy and paste the above then add your details.

Count me in for the 23 and probably 'demanding'. Whereabouts is everyone meeting? Any chance of a town or postcode please? Ta

Yes, set for 23rd and the scenic routes at least should be good for a T4 Syncro.

Right,

Dave has kindly agreed to have his place as the meeting point:

Address 2 Cavalier Road, Heathfield Ind Est, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 6TQ

(A link from his website with a map http://www.futbus.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I suspect he'll have a kettle and suggest people bring a supply of cake and biscuits.

0930 ok for meeting and try to get away shortly after 1000?

We will have to find a lunch stop too and perhaps pre-warn them for numbers to keep the stop a little shorter than last time!

Any good ideas for a pub lunch spot?

I like "Demanding" but wonder about "Possible damage to van" I reckon that would mean you need at least a high lift jack, winch etc so I'll go with Mals definition for now. What would you define as the last outing in November. Was that demanding? . I know what ever it was it was great day! Doug and Al have experience and like swimming I know that. :ok

syncrodoug (Doug) demanding
v-lux (al) demanding
SyncroSwede (Mal) scenic (to 'interesting'!)
keeno (??) demanding
pmrad4d (phil) scenic (we need to get you some bash plates made up hey phil!!)
torchy (Peter) Scenic (to "interestingly demanding")

16" 1.9TD Syncro Crew Cab
...and for the really narrow lanes; Honda XR250 and CRF 230.

Torchy, demanding means - expect a high possibility of some dents, sctratches, dings.

If you like your paintwork, take the sensible path!

if you're not too worried about your paint/knocking the odd dent out, (replacing the odd headlight lens  ) then come along and see what your van can really do. (might want some chunky tyres though...)
