going to service my 1991 komet when wether gets better . but want to know
what is the best oil to use . :?

VW Quantum Blue Mineral 15W/40 if it's a petrol engine.....Quantum Red 15W/40 if it's a diesel.

10W/40 is generally too thin and may cause hydraulic tappet rattle on wasserboxer (petrol engined) T3's

Of cause any decent quality 15W/40 will be fine.....but as our vehicles get older and oils generally become thinner, it becomes increasing difficult to find this viscosity (thickness) of oil....Halfords sell one, GSF do FUCHS, THE RANGE strangly sell UNIPART OIL in this viscosity,,,all of which would be fine...but as I say...Diesel specific oil if you have a diesel engine.

thanks martin . i have used 15/40 part synthetic as i was told to from halfords and it seems ok but
if it is not the right oil i will change it . :ok

for higher mileage engines I would use a 20w 50 mineral keeps up the oil pressure in the hotter weather.
I use 15w 40 in the winter, not so thick so it gets round quicker on freezing starts
