Snow joy!

Post by syncropatrick »

Only 2 inches of snow overnight in Bristol, but as usual things grind to a halt. Don't normally drive to work, but today the carparking overlords were having an amnesty as they couldnt do their rounds, so took the Syncro in and parked outside my building.

Had a fun morning:-

towed a Mitsubishi Evo 4 up a very steep hill. God knows what they were doing out in slicks.
towed various colleagues around the campus.
towed the leccy milk float up the hill outside work, they are HEAVY. Got a cheer as milk got delivered to our buildings.
saw a parked white van spontaenously drift off down a hill with no one in it. It got 40m then slide sideways into a bollard. Turned out the driver had stopped to help someone else and parked it on slippy snow.
Loads of expensive BMWs sliding all over the place - this always makes me :D
Found nothing the Syncro couldnt cope with.
oh joy!

Tomorrow will be a different matter when it freezes overnight. Might cycle in tomorrow just for the hell of it.

Nice work Patrick.
I'm in London this week so I'm very jealous and just to rub salt in the wounds I've been sent a picture of the Syncro sat on our front drive covered in snow.....Grrrr......

I hope there's some still left by the time I get back.

Brilliant, Split CV boot or not I was out there, just to see what can be done, found lots of snow covered roads and yeh no problems anywhere!.

Kept an eye out for some Landys but could'nt find any stuck :( . Good chance to test the VC though against the kirb in my local Sainsburys, that was fun.

Well, brought it out today in the ice for more fun. Campus security had sensibly acquired a Landy 110 today, but were forbidden to tow anything as they had no official training and therefore no insurance cover. They tracked me down and asked me to tow a stuck colleague up a hill, which as 'a passing member of the public' I was more than happy to do. H&S gone mad!

The rumour is, that the campus did not get gritted, as the gritter trailer is attached to a 2wd Transit which could not get to the grit store to load up and no-one had the foresight to do so before the forecasted snow fell - doh!
