front shock lower bushes
front shock bushes, are these available off the shelf anywhere. i`ve been having a knocking noise from the front and as i`ve rebuilt most of it it is starting to pi$$ me off now, thought it could be topping out so i did the spacer trick the weekend but no its still there.
only thing im not 100% happy with is the lower shock bushes and there is a little wear in the top shock mount too where the shock goes through the frame.
anyone else had a similar problem. cheers muchy lee.

I think I saw those on Baxters site. They rarely go though. Have you been back over everything you've already done in case something has come loose?

thanks syncropaddy will check out the brickwerks, didn`t see the first time around. i`ve checked and checked every nut and bolt about 1/2 a dozen times but still nothing shows up. going to get it on one of those new mot shaker plates later this week in case something shows up on there. its one of those noises thats only there on little ripples like a antiroll bar link worn, or ball joint, big compressions and rebounds are fine.

the cones on the lower bolt cleaned and greased? I had one rattle.. took it apart, cleaned it and coppasliped it bolted it back together and fine.. Worn lower ball joints make an anoying clicking sound over small ripples.. both mine have a tiny amount of play and click... refurbed a set of lower arms and will be fitting shortly..

Re: front shock lower bushes
both lower bolt cones spottless, new bolts, helicoiled arms, new ball joints top and bottom, new inner lower arm bushes bolts and nuts, new tie rod bush assemblies and tubes, new antiroll bar and link bushes, new top bushes with new spacer tubes and 8mm spacers and spacers on top of the springs. thought i`d covered everything bar the shock bottom bushes. looked on brickwerks again but dont think syncro specific shock bushes are available. thing is i dont think it`ll cure it really would just like to try them just to discount them really.
talking about it maybe the lower shock bolts aren`t tighting up enough there is no play with a lever bar but it could be loose enough to cause the problem i`m having.
mmmmmmmm good thought tomanytoys thanks

Jack it up on the bottom arms and re-check.
then, jack up with wheels free and get pry bar between lower ball joint and CV joint.

Re: front shock lower bushes
My lower shock mount was toast, doesn't show up so well on the photo, but you can see where the displaced shock was clunking on the front drive shaft. At the best of times there is little more than a couple of mm clearance, and I guess this is worse due to the fatter drive shafts. New shock, no more clunking.

Re: front shock lower bushes
been through most things again today and came up with squat. only thing i`ve noticed is both the bolts for the lower shock bolts are a long way in so i think they may be bottoming out on the threads before they are fully tightening up.if i loosen the bolts only a tiny bit the noise is more obvious but its the same sound if you know what i mean. need to get 2 extra washers of suitable size and re try.

Why can't you have any normal problems like everyone else?
You have to be different don't you, with your weird voodoo faults.
