wing mirrors wing mirrors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by oggie.b »

hi all happy new year to you all

after reversing my van into a post a week after getting it (very messy) i soon learnt the hard way about T3 wing mirrors i tightened up the bolts but still they turn inwards at the grand speed of 60, i then ordered new ones but still the problem occurs i cant tighten them up any more without spliting the plastic.
so after seeing the new issue of camper and bus and seeing vw corrado wing mirrors on the T3, i'm now the proud owner of a pair.

so my question to you all or to those who have fitted them is
how do they fit?
can i wire up the electrics and how do i do so?
where do i get the control unit from will any vw one do?

thank for looking/helping

imo.corrado mirrors might look cool (to some) but are to small for these vans.if you have the original vw mirrors (most if not all aftermarket ones are rubbish) try this...
1.spray the nuts with plusgas.
2.take off the nuts.the spring.and the half round piece of metal.
3.give the tapered shaft a good emery clothing.
4.grease the shaft.and re assemble.

if you dont have original vw mirrors put an ad in the wanted section for a pair...
:ok

ps.if you must fit the corrado mirrors.you will need to get some adaptors made to get them to fit onto the door.

Have you still got the original VW mirrors. The springs are stronger, and you can use them in the aftermarket mirrors. Beats me why the makers don't fit stronger springs. Perhaps they don't care.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Or fit a couple of washers under the nut - worked for me.
