Happy new year to all 80-90s.
We have a couple of issues with our Westy roof and were wondering what solutions anybody could suggest. Problems are:
1 - Mould growing on the flock ceiling
2 - The flock fibres falling off and becoming like dust in the van interior. (This is causing skin irritation).
Thanks in advance!
Rob

Re: Westy pop-top flock lining
this is a common problem. to restore properly you need to take the roof off, clean all the old flocking off and then take it to someone who can re flock it. flocking is commonly used in the race and rally circuit, although they normally flock in black.
i`ve insulated both my westy poptops and so far no dropping on the head lining. the bay i did years ago did drop but i did it different with that.
the silver bubble wrap you can buy in B&Q fixes really well to the roof " must use best glue you can buy " and then i use thin fleece material to glue on to the bubble wrap the westy syncro i`ve just done i did in black which seriously darkens the living space. i wouldn`t recomend a dark colour to anyone else.
to try and do anything with the roof still fitted will be awkward and pulling the roof off is not such a big job but you do need a fair bit of space.
here`s my roof being done.

Thanks for that, Lee.
Out of interest, how did you remove the flock?

Or, Mine was really mouldy after 3-4 months of living in the van over winter.
Spray on Mould and Mildew cleaner bought at local tescos (or watered down bleach) and scrub away. Comes up like new!

Re: Westy pop-top flock lining
i removed mine with a wire brush cup on a grinder gently and finished of with sand paper to get a good key for the glue.
