I have a 1980 van, wanting to fit a front set of Captain seats in, what do I need to do? Not really bothered about a swivel base, but my seats are origonal at the moment. The guy said they are in an 1983 van at the moment, not standard....

Will they fit?
I have a 1980 van, wanting to fit a front set of Captain seats in, what do I need to do? Not really bothered about a swivel base, but my seats are origonal at the moment. The guy said they are in an 1983 van at the moment, not standard....

Standard ones fit on the runners, non standard usually involve welding the new seat to a old base so it can slide on.
Need to make sure because seats can be botched on to van.
IMHO bet have them on runners.

If you go to a VW show they sell them in various colours and states, starting from £120 (retrim)..up to £400 for utter minters.
once you buy them.. you can fit them
OK no problem there then, the runners will accept the caravelle seatsbut my seats are original at the moment

Got them in mine but its an astonishing amount of money for what they are. Must admit you can sit in them all day without getting a numb derriere but I wouldn't rule out more modern seats - loads to choose from and much cheaper.

The seats are ISRI seats from a 1982 caravelle, aftermarket of cource - they should fit. What do you think?
