I cannot find the original vin number on my 1980 camper which was imported from Hawaii a few years ago. The 'new' vin is one which has been applied when the van was certified for use in NZ.
It is a 1979 T25 and is a creamy yellow custardy colour! I have seen the same colour on loads of pictures - but don't know the official name or paint code. My guess is that it is definitely not 'VW creamy custard'! Any ideas? I have just had the ouside soda blasted so the new paint will be applied in the next 2 or 3 weeks hopefully.
I will try to post a pic.
Cheers
Jon

Try looking on the bodywork under the seats (slide seat forward) as there may be a plate with your paint code on it

jon71, take a look at the following Brick-Yard link. You do really need the VW paint code but an educated guess may suffice. Bamboo Yellow seems favourite.

Cheers Chaps! ( Or Chapesses!)
After some investigation I found a metal plate with the code B9B9 E11 D31.
I found that the B9B9 linked to L567 or Ivory beige.
Result.......unless someone can tell me I have made a mistake!
Cheers

P.S - I will post pics of soda blasted camper soon.

jon71, just thought I'd mention that code for your van ie. L567 is:- L = Laquer 567 = Ivory
P.S. If custard in New Zealand is really that colour then I'll stick with good old yellow British custard.

Ha ha!
I was thinking of Nigella Lawson homemade custard rather than the tinned Bird's variety!

Not that I am a custard snob or anything like that!
Below is a pic of my van in its current soda blasted state!

I am off down to the bodyshop today and will attempt to remove the roof. I haven't had any tips from forumites so I will just 'feel my way' and hope to avoid any "cock" ups! Wish me luck.......
