T25 1.9 Watercooled engine

Post by fixitsteve »

Did these engines come with 2 power outputs 60 & 78 bhp. Which is the better of the two and what are the differences. What sort of fuel economy can i expect. Is the 60 brake one underpowered.

1.9 60 PS is the DF which has the Pict carburettor
1.9 78 PS is the DG which has the Pierburg 2E3 carb.
1.9 ?? PS is the DH which has injection (rare in this country)
2.1 112 PS is the DJ which came with injection but can be run with the Pierburg carb. as Kev say's.

it's a fuel injection system
Digifant is the name Volkswagen gave to its in-house derivative of the Bosch L-Jetronic computerized engine control system. The system tightly controls fuel delivery and spark to balance exhaust emissions and fuel economy with acceptably high performance.

fitted to late vans (86 on MV engines) and even beetles
I spose you don't see many vans over here with it.
