Too cold to even do an oil change

Man its bitter out there. Was all geared up to do an oil change and rather than just pull into Tescos car park and dump the sump (just kidding ) I thought I'd change the filter and give it a dose of fresh oil. Tell you what, within 3 minutes I'd already dismissed the idea of wrestling with the filter and just did the oil. Taken me an hour to get warm again - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Why didnt you warm up the engine a (only for 5 mins idle on the driveway) bit first? I do this in winter as a warm engine is like a big hat water bottle which you can warm your hands on - it also helps you get more of the old oil out as it's warm and not treacle like

I have been in a friends fiat coachbuilt this afternoon rewiring the leisure electrics after the spaghetti control unit/battery charger packed up, its getting a complete Fox modification since the dealers quoted over £800 for a replacement. Had the blown air heater runnong and a 2Kw fan heater, it was lovely and warm.
Wouldnt swap your job for mine ralph.
BUT I was giving tech support to someone in Essex who has had a 20kva welder genset go down and he said it was minus two outside colchester and the horizontal snow had stuck to buildings. Glad I am not there anyway but especially in that weather.

Been out in it all day at work. Never got above minus 2 where i was. Couldnt feel my fingers even in gloves. Glad i'm home tomorrow

The Eber came on whilst one was in't privvy this morning ... lovely clear, warm winscreen ... even if the doors were still frozen (except the slider which I left undone ) same again tonight ... everyone out scraping their newish cars and 'The old van' was clear and gone.

It was bloody cold here this morning.was snowing whilst i was removing the hubs off the scrapper.i couldn't get the porsche adapters off the hubs and the castle nut wouldn't budge so i used the old grinding method.i was frozen solid by the time i had removed them.

We also use this trick. missus puts on the Ebber when she walks the dogs on a morning.By the time we get in the van it's toasty warm and windscreen clear. I've said it before, Ebers are worth their weight in gold.

my locks were froze and couldnt open the slider it was frozen at the frame not the lock! at least the central lockin on the front doors saved my life this time, better than climbin thru the tailgate like last time !!!

Might try using silocone spray/wipes on door seals to keep them from sticking when frozen.

Any dash/rubber/plastic protection product like Armorall will work:

It's lovely and warm here in Blenheim!
I would recommend you doing oil changes in the Summer - but in the UK it probably doesn't make any difference!
