unusual driver seat belt question

I have just taken delivery of my new custom furniture, and I am very pleased with it, unfortunatly me being a muppet who cant read a tape measure have a brand new kitchen unit wich is 5 mm to long to fit !! a***, it doesnt clear the seatbelt inertia bit .
So i am left with 2 options, option 1 cut out the side of the kitchen to fit, or option 2 fit a slightly narrower inertia seat belt, i would rather go with the later.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Can anyone recomend a narrower seat belt unit?

I don't think a narrower unit is available for these vehicles, might be wrong but never heard of anything like that.
The fitting would have to be compatible with what is in the van if you were going to look at one from a different vehicle too.
The only thing I can suggest, as it is only 5mm you need, is to elongate the bolt hole on the unit slightly so allowing the inartia unit to be moved 5mm away from the kitchen unit.

DO NOT DO THAT! There all that stops ya going through the windscreen! Get a router and recess the belt into it its only 5 mm so should be able to get away with it ?

Before you hack away at anything ...have actually tested if you can still adjust your seat properly and drive?

The man has an excellent point. My advice would be to fit the unit in loosely and see if it affects your driving position. If it doesnt and you take James's advice, which I regard as excllent BTW you then have to lose 5mm. I would have thought that you units side is a minimum of 1/2 thick. Off er the belt inertia unit up and draw around it, take the unit out, make up a router jig out of some 6 mm ply so that the router will run round area you want to remove and taking 2 - 3mm cuts (depth) remove wood till unit fits. It is quicker to do it than describe it.
Call it a stupidity tax, I have paid plenty, like most of us and hopefully you have learned from this and will not have to pay this one again, remember measure twice and cut once.
