RHD Tristar Syncro for sale

Post by rswestling »

It looks like I may be having to move back to the states. I'll know for sure next week. If this is confirmed, then I'll be looking to sell my syncro. It's the 'field find' that was posted some time ago on this forum. When I bought it it had 29,000 miles on it, and had sat for a long time. I had the guys at Syncronutz rebuild it, and it now has about 35,000 miles. It's pretty much all original and intact. It has a nice Vindic cap with locks and a key that works, powder coated aluminum gates, a nearly perfect interior with no rips or marrs or anything. Even the carpet looks almost new, both in the cab, and in the locker. There is no surface rust and the underside was completely take apart, blasted, and repainted. It has a westy tow ball with electrics, and BFG AT's on 5 new unmarred 14" carat alloys. It runs beautifully, and it's always been garaged since being rebuilt.

Pictures of the resto work are on Syncronutz website.

It's a very nice van and I hope that I can either stay and keep it, or have it go to a good home. I'm away on a business trip in Asia right now but when I return I plan to bring it to vanfest on Saturday next. I'll also take pictures on my return to the UK. I don't know what it's worth. I guess it depends on who sees it and how deep their wallets are. I would need to get at least £15k to not loose money. (Yea I know, more money than brains.) When you see what folks will spend on a spare tyre carrier, who knows?

I thought that before I post it on fleabay, or even here, I'd give this forum a heads up to see if any one is interested and let you know that it may be for sale shortly and will be at Vanfest. Hopefully I'm over reacting and all will be well, but these days I'm tending to think half glass full when it comes to job security as an expat.

Thanks,

Robert

I will vouch that this is definetly the best condition RHD syncro tri-star in existance. Possibly the best tri-star in existance.
This was a very very good van to start with before we restored it to showroom condition and in my opinion worth more.

Hi KarlT,
Yes, this is the one in the video. When I get back to the UK I plan to properly photograph the van, and I'll provide a link here to the photographs. It's about as smart a doka as you'll ever see. It's sort of like a timewarp actually as, for all intents and purposes, it looks pretty much new. -robert

The Tristar is now for sale. I'll be posting details in the for sale section.

Happy to answer any questions. I plan to post the van on Ebay this coming weekend.

(Not the best timing with the holidays on us, but such is life.)

with the condition and rarity of that i`d say £15,000 was a bargain and seeing the prices of splits and bays atm in comparison it should be worth closer to £30,000. hope you get strong money for it. saying that if it was mine, it would have my boys name on it and wouldn`t be going anywhere.

all the best lee.

The van is in W2, Bayswater.

Since there has been a lot of questions regarding asking price, I'll try to answer here, and update the post in the for sale section. I have £15k in the van and the renovation work. This does not include the cap, the gates, the spare wheels, etc. I do not know what the van is worth due to it's rarity and condition. I'd like to recover what I put into the van, or roughly 15k. But, I'm open to near offers. I think a very good Tristar Syncro left hand drive will sell for between 5 and 10k. But, it will have more than 100k miles, and will not be rhd. Does that really matter? To some yes, to others, no. I'd like to find the person who it matters to.

I'll be putting the van up on Ebay later today, Saturday the 19th. I'm stuck in France waiting for the Eurotunnel train all night, so this may slip a day...

Thanks,

Robert

robert with respect to all the tristar fans on here, myself included i think putting the van on e bay is a must even if its just as an advertising campain as a van like that will have interest to collectors world wide. we`d all like to pass our loved vans on to someone close to us but at the end of the day you took the risk of investing your hard earned in it and you deserve as good a return as possible.

nowt wrong with e bay for that mate.

dont forget the samba.com.

lee.

Thanks Lee,

I do plan to put it on Samba as well. So far Club 80 90, and Brickyard. I agree that there may be pretty wodespread interest. In fact, as of this year I believe it could be imported into the US as it is 20 years old, but right now I need to money more than the van. That's one of the reasons I'm not fixing a price; if Gowesty sales are any indocation, there may be a real market back home.

I've decided to wait and list it on Ebay after the new year. For anyone interested, I'll update this thread when it goes on.

Rgds,

Robert

Waiting for euro-tunnel........I take it you're still in France then!

Lov'in that Tristar but abit out of my league. Plus I'd be worrying non-stop about it.

We're kinda used to seeing/owning LHD in England because of so many VW imports but I wonder what peoples attitude's would be to a RHD abroad. I guess you'll find out. Oz & NZ might be worth ago. Good-luck fella......(now where's my daughters piggy bank again!) :rollin
