Headlight to sidelight wire

Post by nesty »

Can someone tell me what wire number 3 does? It appears to go the sidelights. Does this feed the sidelights?

If it's brown it's earth

TBH I never wired in the sidelight wiring that cam with the square loom I just kept using the existing one that I left on

In fact I never cut any wires I just used spade connectors to connect the brown, yellow and whie wires that came from the new loom to the original connector block then taped it up and tie wrapped it out of the way

OK thanks

I used my existing sidelighter holder. However onthe main headlight bulb connector the brown wire went direct into the connector then a smaller wire went to the sidelight holder.

Sounds like it is a earth fault & I've severed it! Do the sidelight and indicators share the same earth?

I'll get the sidelight bulbs in tommorrow and take it from there.

Nesty I've just looked at my loom and the main earth feeds to the sidelight holder then to the headlight bulb 3 way connector holder then to the inner main beam.

The sidelight positive should be connected up to the grey and black wire that fed your original side lights. The yellow and white wires, or yellow/black and white/black go to the other positions on the headlight bulb 3 way connector block

Thanks. I think I know what I've done! I've accidently severed the brown between the headlight connector and the sidelight! On the single lights original loom, the main brown went straight into the main headlight connector, then 2 wires spured off the terminal. One to the main beam and the other to the sidelight holder. It's this one I have severed

The twin headlight loom was slightly different configured to my orginal the way the earth went. Slightly confused me. Though would this account the the front indicators suddenly not working?
