Vacuum reservior size

Post by caveman »

I have a 2wd in which i installed a 5 speed with a locker [thanks Aiden] i was wondering if i only need a small vacuum reservior rather than the larger 3 sphere one that usually comes on syncros since i don't have a front locker to pull vacuum to. I'm hoping a single sphere one will work since i have 2 lying around the shop.

I would imagine if you can find a smaller reservoir it would be fine. I think a few manufacturers used them for various things in the engine bay. All syncros came with the same reservoir, and it is only really used when doing a lot of engagement - disengagement.

should be fine, tbh the reservoir is just there to ensure vacuum at low revs especially on the diesels, it's possible to run direct without a reservoir, the dodoka is running like that at the mo I believe as the one way valve was faulty so Pete bypassed it all.

If a diesel does have more vacume at idle than a petrol the pump needs changing. There is a way of getting a much better respone for the diff locks by changing the way vw bodged the plumbing.
