The saga continues...someone please help...
I now have 3 eber b2l's, 2 fuel pumps, 2 control units and 3 thermostats on/off switches and a 240v-12v power supply gizmo in the garage so I know power is not a problem as I can take this up to 16v if need be, currently doing all tests on 13.5v.

ALL 3 do exactly the same thing. Cold button works the fan fine, hot does nowt. You hear the control units click once, then the Ampmeter on the power supply goes up to about 11A for 3 or 4 seconds before the control unit clicks again and Amps drop. No fan movement, no click at the pump but checked both pumps with a 12v supply and they work as do the fans. The only difference is with one of the thermostats. When on heat mode and you turn it right down the fan kicks in. I am at a loss. The glow plug housing gets warm during the initial cycle but thats as far as it gets. The pumps not clicking i think maybe the problem but both control units/ebers do exactly the same.

The red light does not come on or flash, only when i disconnect the fuel pump. Have the manual but still getting nowhere...................

Have you checked the timings of what happens against the troubleshooting in the manual yet?

The manual I have for a b2l (14 pages) has a bit on the last page (bit not much) but my faults do not match any that are listed. e.g I get no red lights, flashing or otherwise. Is seems that the timings and events match nothing i have in the manual, unless there is something missing from the manual......

This is probably something you have considered - can the power supply deliver up to 20A? Thats a big power supply. If its trying to draw current that cant be supplied then it will cut out. They draw more than 11A on startup (least the diesels do). I've got HUGE cables on mine direct to a battery cause i was fed up with connectors getting corroded etc.

The next thing i would be trying is to replace the heat sensors (is there three of them on the petrol?) one at a time with resistors.

If the sensor is 1.1k normally then replace it with a 1.1k resistor.

You've read my other post and the wiki so im afraid you are the one thats going to have to tell us the answers when you fix it!

With all those eberspachers you wont fail to get one working!

Cheers Ringo,

I wil soldier on with the bloomin thing. My power supply will deliver up to 24A so that seems ok. Will order all the sensors from farnells on monday and get my head around checking the resistance on everything........determined not to be beaten...although getting close to handing the towel in!!
