what flooring do I fit?

Post by jake1953 »

All these jobs on the list are dependant on the weather!
My empty panel van wants new flooring. Do I floor the full length from the edge of the battery tray behind the seat right up to the the point where the floor tapers up for the engine bay? Or do I stop short since I have a r&r bed to fit?
The wooden sides and front panel for the bed would vary in height whether fitting onto the metal floor or the wooden floor covering. This must impact on the height of the back part of the bed when in "bed" position.
Anybody got any help on this one?

measure?

if using carpet/lino the diference in thickness would be minimal

you may want to consider sound deadening(proper dynamat or lead flashing) and or insulation under the carpet this would ad a few more mm but make for a nicer ,read quieter drive

- That's what I did. I put down a single piece of 10mm ply and then laid laminate flooring over that. I put sound deadening between the ply and metalwork.

The wooden sides & front panel for the bed were then tailored to fit.

in my factory camper conversion the ply floor runs to full length of the van from battery trays to under the front of the rock n roll bed. all furniture is then on top. they have built in some drawers over the engine bay which raise the back cushion to be the right level.

Just laid a madmatz tile floor last week - looks great !

High Titus, where did you buy the ply big enough to lay a single piece?
I would prefer this route instead of a join. I see from previous posts that the join is hidden by the kitchen units but still prefer the 1 piece idea if poss.

I bought my ply at Toom Baumarkt, Paunsdorf Center - might be better if you shop locally :D

Any good timber yard should sort you out.
