Sliding door window differences

Ive had a search on here but i havent found the answer i need, so i was wondering if anyone can help.

Ive got a panel van (twin slider) and have bought a lhd sliding door with a fixed window in it which i think was from a T25 minibus.

I have also bought another window on its own thats identical which i was going to fit into the rhd door,but im starting to think it might just be easier just to get a sliding door with a window already in it.

Ive seen sliding door for sale with a window that looks the same size but it has a metal trim around it, and the windows i have dont have any metal trim only the rubber seals.

Does anyone know if the trim is easily removed, or will the window actually be different?

Ill try get a photo up of the differences i mean im just struggling to get photos with my rubbish camera at the moment, thanks

There are VW fitted and DIY fitted, oh and Conversion fitted.

picture of the trim?... it reads like a Caravelle trim

they all are easily removed and replaced with the correct tool

Heres a picture of my window, im sure this is from a minibus and an original window.




I havent got a picture of the other one, but it looks exactly the same but with a silver metal trim round the edge (just on the inside of the window rubber)

If the metal trim can be removed then it should be identical (i think!)

that's a cut panel van so window not original but may well be vw glass
caravelles and kombi's with factory glass have recessed glass, ie seal sits in the van and the glass is flat and the body is shaped, cut panel van the glass is level with the skin of the van.
Panel van seal is cut to length often so join is obvious and the beading is added last to fill out the seal
Caravelle/Kombi have seal made as one piece, as may additionally have silver plastic filler trim to match the metal trim on the front windows on high spec vans

Matching replacement windows is a nightmare, took me ages to find a replacement slider, so many different sizes not only length but height too..

Cheers for the help so it looks like it will be easier just to put the matchin window i have into the other sliding door.

Theres two sliding doors on ebay with windows (one fixed and one opening), i cant really tell if theyre recessed or not they all look the same!

What do you guys reckon?

difficult to tell 1st one is non genuine window in a panel van door, 2nd one I'd ask, if it's factory sliding window or not, but again I don't think so

I thought about getting the 2nd one if the metal strip could be removed, i asked the seller to measure the window to see if it was the same size as mine but they never replied. Can the strip actually be removed?

I also thought about getting the door with the opening window for when cooking, but im thinking fixed window on one side and an opening one on the other will look abit odd.

Ha fair enough so it isnt just held in by the rubber then

the strip clamps the glass in the channel

you can put a black strip in there instead

Hi,
I have the same problem with matching the window in the sliding door of my T25. I've bought 3 windows from ebay now and non of them are right. I have a "FReeranger" conversion - I've never seen another one but its all fairly standard fare - apparently they were built in Yorkshire.
Anyway - being inexperienced at this and running out of patience - my existing window was smashed in by vandals - so I need a replacemnet of some description urgently - can anyone suggest how to fix this quickly?
Custom build ? How, where?
Perspex replacement ?How where?
I need to fill that hole asap.
Any advice \options much appreciated.

Fix, dont fuss, you cant see both sides at the same time

just go to a glaziers and get them to cut you a piece of laminate while you wait
