Help with fuel tank please

Post by simple »

Hi spent this morning removing a fuel tank from my 1981 2.0ltr Aircooled. I had already got hold of a good old type fuel tank, prepped it and 3 x coats of rustoleum ready for install.

The tank thats on there is a newer style tank with a plastic filler   . Now what to do, I have a good tank but no filler pipe, there is a metal filler on ebay for £25 but with no breather pipe.
Loathed to spend £25 on a filler pipe, but my question is what type of breather will fit, will the breather off the plastic filler fit this metal filler?

Have spent ages prepping and rustproofing the 68mm tank, don't want to abandon a solid tank only to find a newer style tank and prep that.
