Re: Oil Breather Pipe
The GSF ones were genuine items, but with the genuine ones obsolete, obviously the GSF ones are too.
I ran out before I realised they had gone obsolete.
I've just checked to see if anyone is making them yet but no joy.
T'Onion has a second hand one he's posting to me (Friday) and I will send it straight off to be made from silicone.
It won't be a quick excersize, nor cheap but they will be available in the not too distant future.
I'm sure one of the aftermarket people will start making them soon, but nothing as yet.

Re: Oil Breather Pipe
Why not fit the flexible plastic conduit (used for wiring and available from B&Q)) mod? Mocki first posted this idea some time ago and its far better than the standard hose as it doesn't kink. Easy to fit if, couple of jubilee clips and use a short section of the original hose or similar to slide over the conduit. Can update with a pic if its of any use......worth doing even if its only a temporary measure.

This was my first fit, the larger hose that slides over the conduit was only fitted at one end but now has short sections of hose at both ends. Think I have some of the correct size hose available if it helps and some of the conduit as it comes in 1M length.

Just another thought, 'car builder solutions' does flexible rubber and silicon hoses in all sizes. Not as cheap as that conduit though!

Re: Oil Breather Pipe
I replaced mine with one off an Alfa Romeo
It was recycled from the breakers yard !! (£1)
Got a water hose off the same Alfa to replace the one from pump to the "ring" around the engine bay. Odd sizes at both ends. (£1)
I love breakers yards

What's the difference between oil breather pipes on a DG and a DF engine?
Pipes are same number but A and B

Re: Oil Breather Pipe
Having just swapped carbs from DF to DG which have very similar air outlet fittings and pipes i would may they are probably the same its just that the air box on top of the carb is slightly diferent for each in that the DG has different mounting holes but thats all as far as i am aware, otherwise look on vagcat. Re: Oil Breather Pipe
Having asked a member for a photo of their DF engine I bit the bullet and bought a DF breather pipe 025-129-493B to use instead of the collapsed and now obsolete DG breather pipe 025-129-493A
The 025-129-493B pipe had different bends to the 025-129-493A pipe but it fit and the best thing was it was only £11.14+vat from VW (£11.40 when you get it trade
)
Here's pictures showing a the pipes fitted to a DG engine
DG 025-129-493A pipe first (taken from wiki), then the DF 025-129-493B fitted to my DG
