Its just that its got a little tap that when you open it, it soaks the pre-heater (which is nice). So i figured i was doing the right thing.

Im going to give up on it and buy a gas one that fits onto a large camping gaz cylinder. They exist apparently but i cant find one.

I know my dad gave it me for a reason - its "pooh"!

(I know its my fault - but im a man of convenience!)

Don't give up on it ringo use meths like Rob said I keep the pre-heater in a jar with meths in then it's well soaked ,use the pre-eater twice ,make sure you have high pressure in the fuel tank and turn the tap on very slow that should do the trick

The new LED lanterns are really good, but don't give off any heat - and here in Blighty we need heat nearly as much as light on winter evenings!

Have to concur - IMHO the Coleman duel fuel is the dog's spheroids in the pressure fuel lantern game. Especially the double mantle job - just don't look into it with your naked eye, unless you are fed up with your retinas.

Also, I think the Coleman duel fuel stoves are the business too. The flame is much hotter than the normal gas rings, and less affected by air temperature and draughts. The only downside is that people are scared of petrol as a fuel.
