Dash top holes

Post by GreatCrestedNewt »

Could someone please tell me the function of the holes/perforations in the top of the dash on my '87 Syncro - to the left of the clocks on a RHD and roughly in the middle? I've noticed them on other Syncros and wonder if they are to vent the diff lock activators. The reason that I ask is that I'm about to fit a Just Kampers dash tidy and wonder if I need to allow for the vent holes. I can post a photo if it helps. Any thoughts?

Radio speaker holes and some even had a grille to go on to of those holes. I think you'll find your diff lock activators on the gearbox casing beside the diffs !!

Thanks for your expertise. Dash tidy going on then and speakers going into the doors - any suggestions for a decent pair of speakers that are a neat fit into the internal panel cut-outs in the driver and front passenger doors? Cheers.

Ive got a set of these in my van. Fits just lovely in the doors.
Dont get in the way of the window winder, and fit just snugly against the dash once the doors are shut.

I've made a first attempt at fitting the speakers by fixing them onto the door card but they snag on the end of the dashboard and the doors will not close. Did you fit them directly to the steel inner door panel itself rather than the door card?

VW standard speakers are 4" and fit perfectly to the door card by the dash. Ive seen 5" ones fitted but down in the door well.

Aah. Apology accepted although I'll need to try to refit the 5" disks that I have cut out from the door cards, recut for 4" and then redo the new Vel Trim door card linings. I think that the 5" speakers are past the stage of being returned having been fitted but I'll fit them in the back somewhere.

Ok,

These are the ones: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... /2498.html

PIONEER-TS-E1076

In my van, the pioneer logo on the speaker just touches the end of the dash once the doors are shut. If the logo wasnt on the grile, they would clear by about 1mm ish. Ive also got insulation on the back of my door cards, so without that i reckon they wouldnt touch at all.

Sorry for the mess up
