westfalia roof canvas

Post by behai »

I have just bought a westfalia roof canvas, my van is a 1985 joker judging by the interior inside. The trouble is that the roof canvas has on the box westfalia 1986 -1990, now I know I am stating the obvious but was not aware that the canvases were different on these vans surely it is the same fitting for all the pop tops, does anyone know if it will fit my van or shall i send it straight back.

Early ones were fitted with staples, later ones screwed on with a bead strip - gowesty site says the changeover date is 1984 so you might be ok?

many people say to take the whole top off to get it done proper, but i left mine on & did it took two days, you really have to measure and remeasure , mine was a little tight but no rips took a couple week ends of leaving the top up to stretch her a bit, lots of work take yer time its a PITA but the end result is well worth it
