As I'm a complete electrics numpty and the search facility doesn't like 3 letter words (or its playing up) What is a Zig unit for?
Do I still need a split charge system if I have a Zig CF8?
Does a CF8 (or other model) charge the leisure battery? if so how and when
What else does it do?

Re: Zig Units
Forum search database manager (MySQL presumably) ignores search terms of 3 letters or less, as I discovered when I searched for "Zig".
Enter "zig cf8 site:club8090.co.uk" into Google. That should do it...
What is it? Glorified split-charge relay with fuses, switches, buttons and meters.

Re: Zig Units
The CF8 doesn't require a relay if wired using the manufacturers installation notes. The front panel has a switch marked 'touring - onsite' and setting the switch to the touring position should be sufficient. However, some conversions and owners also fitted a split charge relay (to improve the efficiency of the charge getting to the leisure battery) so best to have a look and see if you have one.
The CF8 includes a charger that will supply charge in the 'on-site' position and the mains 'on-off' switch switched on when on EHU.

I don't have a Zig unit, yet.

Re: Zig Units
Hi Louey I have a CF8, had a couple in conversions over the years. They wont set the world alight but they do the job. I have a CF8 manual I can scan and send you. If you want to see one in a van our van is often in worcester.
