1X cylinder head to 1Y engine question & problems

Is a 1X cylinder head a suitable replacement to fit on a non turbo 1Y engine?.Anticipating problems after finding oil in the coolent .Replaced the thermostat for a 80 c today shock discovery engine oil in the expansion tank .Thoughts are is it the oil cooler even though it was new two years ago when the 1Y engine was fitted tomorrow i will investigate.Or could it be a cylinder head problem such as a head gasket or worse a crack .There is a 1X cylinder head up for sale discribed with low miles so thinking on the lines if have to take the head and find there is a crack between oil way & water is the 1X a suitable replacement.
