Welcome.
We all ask stoopid questions at some time
First can you tell us what engine you have?
A photo would really help.

Its a bit dark atm to take pics but wil do first thing in the morning. its a 1.9 watercooled and thats all i know about her at present as ive only just bought her. i can tel you that she drives but not extremely well and also that the petrol doesnt go far (think its running rich). all i can reall say is the red wire roes into a yellow plug then a black wire comes bach out and goes to another yellow plug. phe black wire is only about 5inch long?

Re: disconected wires
Hi kev, i already have a black wire with a red connector going to the right (airbox) side of the carb, do u stil think they go there
lol. im not used to these engines lol. looks like the wiring may have been played with before. leigh

Re: disconected wires
after another quick look at the carb there r actualy 2wires going to it. both are black wires. 1 to the front of the carb and 1 to the right side. should these be in place of the other 2?

Re: disconected wires
Ok you have
a manifold heater .........Thicker pink wire that disappears under the manifold
an fuel cut off solenoid
choke heater
the manifold heater will be the larger red/pink wire, with a white connector and needs to be through the sender switch( from thermostat housing on late) and relay..
the fuel cut out solenoid, the choke heater and the other black wire all loop into the same ignition live (black) wire on spade connectors. two female and a male
