Ive had the wheels off & checked the springs/shocks/calipers/drop links & all seemed fine. Went for a slow test drive (1600 n/a) & everytime i hit a small bump,,, bang bang bang . Any ideas anyone,? Would cruppered wishbone bushes cause something like this? Also, a naff mobile mechanic may have overtightened my front wheel bearings

Re: scary banging noise
Wishbone bushes could be the problem.

do you think so? would they make the banging noise or could it be the lower wishbone bush?

Re: scary banging noise
Get the front wheels off and check theres no obvious breakages or wear. We can only guess without looking. Broken shock?

Thanks CovKid, I realise its not easy to diagnose a problem without hearing it, but its great that people are just suggesting stuff, gives me options on what to look for, as for shocks, there brand new heavy duty & have lifted the van about an inch

Shocks shouldn't affect the ride height, that's governed by the springs.
Are they proper T25 shocks ?
The banging could be your suspension hitting the end stops of the shocks if it too high ?
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
Re: scary banging noise
Don't rule out the shocks just coz they're new. I had new ones fitted once on an Astra and they made a knocking noise every time I ran over a pebble. Had to battle with the dealer and threaten legal action to get them replaced.

The new shocks have give the van a lift (i didnt expect em to) i got em off ebay, they were advertised for vw t25s & compared to the ones that came off, were similar but much stronger, the old ones opened and closed like an old squeezbox. i will give em a check over & thanks for your reply
