OK is it a giveaway?

I'd like to know just how different it would be

I have to thank all you rocco lovers for this.. I was not expecting this sort of response

it seems this is a common fault as the fifth is poorly lubricated and if the level drops too low 5th quickly overheats causing the damage to various gear components, Notably the plastic ones.

I had a startling revelation today ... on the way home I was playing with the computer thingymajig and the thing does 42.7mpg  oil temp was between 90 and 97 degrees C and my average speed over the 17 miles was 41 mph taking 25 minutes.

Now I've been seriously thinking of selling the roccet and getting a d****l ... dunna think I'll bother now

Ian

We "hypermile'd" our GTX (Injection) once all the way from Whitby to Chester, mostly A roads, and got an average at the end of 55.6 MPG !!!!!

That computer thingy is a fun tool to play with on a long journey

(You Rocket owners with carbs don't have them btw)

Plus I have seen 125mph on the clock - honest, no fishermans tail that, got a witness :)
(it was on a private road of course !)

That's been around for quite a while and has been bought and sold quite a few times.

It was talked about on a major Scirocco forum (No-Rice it's called  ) as long as 6 or 7 years ago. When it was first made it was a pretty good job, including the interior. Looks like it's getting a bit tatty these days though !!

Hi

Same gearboxes in loads of Montego's...... Thats where my replacement came from when mine jumped out of 5th at 80mph.

I didn't believe the greasy handed man either, but I saw it come from the leyland beast with my own eyes.

I think I gave £20 for the box, cheapest from a VW breaker at the time was about £100.

Still working now, and for sale.... GT11, 40mpg on a run, G plate, leather trim (black) available too...

Cheers
