Yes, upgraded to a P4.
I rescued a Dell PC from its journey to the skip and set about it with a disc cutter to reduce bulk, ditched the 240vac PSU and installed a M4-ATX.
Have now got six USB outlets and three PCI slots - just got a Freeview card (£6 eBay special) so I can can keep up to date with the world , still to sort out aerial!
Toying with the idea mounting a cctv bullet camera on the van and recording direct to hard drive.

Andrew, I've got an old Geovsion PCI card for two cameras, just need to get the CCTV camera off my garage wall and install it in the van.

Hope your house isn't burgled while your away!!

Seriously, I really like ythe idea of this, Planning a coulpe of big road trips myself over the next year or so...(Syncro 25 for one) but I'm abit of a computer nerd, how should I go about it? Any chance of a thread on bits needed & how to connect it all together? Lots of pics would be great.
Go on chaps!

These car/van puters are just like your desktop PC except smaller. The main problem is locating the computer in the van - mine was under the passenger seat - and deciding on the screen and mounting it either in or on the dash. The screen I'm currently using is a 'normal' 13in TFT that requires 12v DC - I made a rough and ready mount for it to sit on the dash.
There are plenty of sites that deal with these just do a search 'carputer' or 'mini-ITX'
I hope to make the first of Syncrospares' North Devon meets so you can have look at my set up then.

Why not just get one of those little laptops. That way you have a built in monitor.
Cheers
