Sounds abit more than a loose fan belt to me, especially if you can smell burning in the cab.... :oops:
Mmm what's that strange smell from my exhaust...

Have replaced the drive belt, but still grtting the burning smell :x think i need a new altonater, the trouble is cant find the ampage anywhere, on it.
phoned euro car parts there is the choice of three, without the amps they cant help me. german & s said the engine in my camper didnt come out in this country untill 86 my camper is a 85 :? but said to go with a 90 amp . Anyone know where i can get a second hand one . thanks jen

Is what I did and got a brand new one for just over £25 from ebay. Quite a few in the VW/Audi range around that time are identical except for the pulley. In many cases you can see massive leaps in price and the only difference is the pulley which denotes which vehicle it fits :D

don't supose anyone knows a part number for them as have a few bosch remanufatured ones sat on a shelf, but don't know what they fit :roll:

Long as the bolt holes are in the same place and shaft diameter for pulley is the same they should work fine.
