Speedo/oddometer

Post by Dubwana »

My T25 diesel speedometer finally broke after taking the whole thing apart for the third or was it the fourth time, the oddometer is rebuilt with bits from a beetle and measures at least 10% off but its not a big issue. My question is:

What other vehicles have interchangable speedometers to go into a T25. I don't mind if the ratios will be out as once I work out the differences I can factor them in . However the speedometer cable will have to go into it. Anyone made such a change? Any suggestions.

Thanks!

nowt else fits easy

just buy the proper kit! usually around £30 for a speedo , just make sure it has 805 on the face as different numbers are for different models (syncro ect)

petrol and diesel 2wd are the same!

early ones use bay window screw in cable , everything else is push fit!

Thanks mate, where would I get one from? I'm running to a deadline as I'm in Kenya and someone is coming out in a few weeks. The one I had lined up here they wanted over a hundred quid for and it was old and mouldy.

Its an 81 and its a push in speedo cable with the clips on the side. The T2 and beetle are screw in. Can anybody give me a heads on up on where to buy one?

Most probably 2nd hand from ebay or syncrospares. 2nd hand entire instrument clusters go for £50-£130 depending on if they have digi clocks and/or rev counters

Not sure if they come with the plastic backing plate or you have to get it seperate which I bet is also unavailable new. Also the rear box surrounds on mine have cracked and broke in the past so the dials are more or less held in with duck tape as they are part of the main instrument dashboard cluster.

I'm sure someone will update you on vw part availablity through ETOS as I'm at work and can't access it
