Never say never John  ,it has been done after all else has failed , I also think this is why more and more folk are turning to regular running batteries as leisure ones , that and they fit under the seat :ok

Tis true !!

I have a relay on my "normal" leisure battery that takes it out if circuit if the voltage drops below 11.5 Volts to prevent any chance of deep discharging it and knackering it.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

I think theres a lot to be said for two starter batteries.

If you think carefully about the electrics you use, you should be able to run quite happily on starters. Dumping flourescent lights in favour of LED helps and I find I can run a small LCD TV no prob on a normal battery.

Mind you, I went all 12v except for the cooker and I don't run a fridge. I have a 12v 17amp power supply that can run on 240 hookup and it gives me a bit of independence as well as saving a little on the cost of a leisure that doesn't get fully utilised in the winter. My stereo is directly powered from the second starter too so I don't get a flat battery listening to music whilst parked up. It also means I have an emergency starter battery if i need one. A heavy dury marine battery switch should enable me to switch batteries for starting if I needed to - just not got around to it yet.

Just thought I'd post it in case anyone wants a battery before winter. Euro Car Parts - nice chunky starter battery - £55 incl VAT. My starter motor was a tadge surpised I can tell you. They no longer do the Lion batteries by the way. Discontinued almost overnight.

Any ideas why they stopped Lion? I got a Lion from them about 3 weeks ago for the van and it seems fine and was a good price (around 45 pounds)

I often find euro car parts to be useful but they can be expensive for some parts and i have a bit of a history of getting the wrong parts from them, however they have mainly replaced these when it was their fault. :D

No idea why no Lions at Euro Car parts, they just stopped. Its often the case that they drop lines because they can't get the price they want for bulk. The Exide seems great though and I did get a slightly bigger one than listed. They actually, once you tot it, up work out fractionally cheaper than the Lion ones.

Yep a few will fit in engine bay but too tall for proper battery boxes (in case anyone wondered).

Euro Car Parts - nice chunky starter battery - £55 incl VAT.
:ok I'm sure its a good deal, but what is the ideal AmpHour & Cranking Amp for a T25 Starter/Leisure battery? - I don't mind paying a bit more to get it right.

They've still got them on the website http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... 1ec1c878ae(£37.37) so some outlets must have them in stock!?!? :?:

None in Cov. May be some left on the shelf elsewhere but guy says they've stopped doing them. The equivalent Exide is about a quid cheaper. I went up a size from that though as I fitted a 90amp alternator when I got the Caravelle. Wish I could afford another but my flakey "hold a charge for 10 mins" battery will have to do for second battery until I have some cash.

Website may just be lagging.

Hi,

Do you have the part number please? A friend of a friend works at Euro Car Parts so I might be able to get some discount. :D

Its a good price for a quality battery I think. Mine whizzed over on that and no more getting the charger out every five minutes. Cheaper than GSF for comparable size :D
