Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

I'm in the final throws of prep work prior to rollering the van. I'm going to hire a garage for doing the the job in.
My question is, if I wet and dry the whole van before I garage it, does it become more open to the elements until I start the paint job or will it still be waterproof enough?

Long as its bone dry before you start you painting it should be fine.

Has anyone ever managed to get Rustoleum Combicolor mixed
in VW Pastel white L90D ,and if so, where....oh and how much did it cost?

Thanks for the info
Spoke to Lawsons,they said they need the RAL code... L90D Pastel white means nothing to them
Ive come up against this before...
I contacted Combicolor in Manchester recently and they said that VW would not release the
'trade' paint code and that they could only help if they had the RAL code!
Nobody seems to know it ...

The other option available to you is to ask a paint shop to give you the RAL code. After all, even big DIY shops can allegedly match any colour as long as they're given a sample.

I was beginning to lose hope of ever getting the right colour..

well just when I thought I was ready for the paint job, I unearthed several kg of filler in the passenger door. Bought a good second hand door, prepped it and ready to fit it.
On a technical note, when we talk about saturating the sponge roller before painting, won't the paint pour out the metal spindle the roller sits on? What's the technique?
Off on hols on sat for 2 weeks so will give me something to mull over 'til I get back.

By saturation I mean full of paint and not air and no it doesn't pour out of spindle - its a snug fit.

It may have been covered already so appologies. I will be painting my van soon, probably prep work and a couple of coats before winter and finish the thing to a better standard next spring/summer.
So, my question is, I have a supply of vactan, should I liberally coat any rust (after attacking it with a wire wheel) prior to painting on the rustoleum? Would this give the van some added protection or would it interfere with the properties of the rustoleum? Thanks and great thread by the way

Vantan is fine under Rustolium, it does not react with it

May have been asked and answered already but I couldn't find the answer. My van in Bronze Beige Metallic. Do they do metallics and if they do is it much more difficult to apply?
