engine transplant check
hi folks,i have just dragged the 2.1 out of the shed and fitted the exhaust using all new bolts &gaskets from jk also the new knuckle joint.i have cleaned the plugs and was wondering if there was anything else i should be doing before i fit it?The engine has been stood for about 7-8 months now. Also, should i swap the fuel pump over as the new engine has an electric one whereas the one i am taking out has a mechanical one? advise me please .cheers ben

Re: engine transplant check
Ben , are you using the carb or injectors ? (I know you've told me)
If your going to use the carb off the engine then use the mechanical pump off the same engine ( you know it to be good ) , I'd use the dizzy and the alternator ,for the same reason.
Try and keep the carb up right as if you lay it on its side ,it can cause problems.
Number there if you get stuck
come on Tina

I'd be changing the oil pump, water pump, clutch, clutch slave, gearbox oil, manifold gaskets, painting or cleaning the engine bay, refurbishing the tin ware and fit a new starter motor.
taking the plugs out and spinning the engine over then change the oil
but you might not

Re: engine transplant check
cheers chaps,i will be fitting a new water pump and manifold gaskets, carb from engine running now(1.9),gearbox oil was changed about 3 months ago and both starter motors are good but will use the one i'm using at the moment.the clutch was only new 8 weeks before i bought the van(receipt).Unfortunately,i will not have time to polish the engine bay kev
as i will be needing to use the van asap.so it's gonna be a straight in and straight out job hopefully:however with a t25 you just cannot tell.hopefully we will crack on with it this weekend.will take photos for your pleasure!!! thanks again, ben

I like you a lot.. your my favourite member of the club.

yes I did have a small issue
When I came to change the oil on the new engine the plug spun (threaded)
BUT when I drained the oil initially it was done via the filler tube, because the engine was on a metal table, so I only found out after the engine was fitted
