Is it painted over rust??

Post by HizzleCamper »

Not sure if the picture will come up - but if it does - is the bobbling effect rust that has been sprayed over? If the picture doesn't work is there a way you can tell if rust has simply been sprayed over? This is advice for the untrained eye!

Thanks

Its 20 years old, there will be rust. Whether you worry about it or not is another matter.

I was worried that it looked like painted over rust, after looking at a lot of potential vans we are getting to grips with the different levels of rust vans have! We have just had a fair few very long round trips for vans that have descriptions which aren't completely honest - but then that seems like half the fun!

It looks like underseal, but is generally used as a bit of a bodge. It could be all well and good under there or a can of worms. Hows the magnet test on it?

That's stonechip, and looks like it's been done properly. Mine's the same; and has been like that for the two years I've had it. No deterioration at all. If it seems in reasonable order then it probably is.

ask the seller how long its been done.

if its a few years your ok , less than a year then be carful.

feel the thickness of the arch , should only be one skin of metal and uniform thickness (apart from factory painted rubber sealer)
