Never ending oil leaks

I'm having trouble finding a final fix for my 20l Aircooled lust to leak oil.

I have now replaced the pushrod seals twice, and now suspect the leak could be coming from elsewhere. It started by a small drip seen forming at the base of the right hand side of the engine case, but its now leaking from both sides.

Its frustrating and i'm sure the pushrod tubes are now ok, any ideas where else to look.......?

I know it sounds silly, but mine leaked all the time using 15/40 (I think oil) which I'd been told was fine... then I changed to Morris oil from just kampers and since then I have had no oil leaking at all

Ya try 20/50 it makes a difference. Also have a look round the petrol pump, they and their gaskets can leak..

couldnt stop mine from leaking till i got some permatex 3H from jim at stateside tunning, brushed it on the ends of the pushrod tubes and seals, no oil leaks now after 3000 miles.

Thanks, I'll be having a better look when the rain stops. I'm already using the Morris oil, and I'm sure the oil is running down from somewhere above the pushrod's I just hope its nothing to serious.

could be the metal sealing rings that fit between the barrels and engine case not sealing .

I had a much closer look at the leaks today, removed the lower tinware and lay underneath with the engine running. Unless I'm much mistaken its the bloody pushrod seals again...in a way I'm glad its nothing worse.

BUT this is the second time I've replaced them! I've used GSF and Just Kampers seals, any recommendations of best type to use?

I have replaced the actual tubes and used plenty of silicone grease when fitting. I knocked the tubes home with a large socket. There was no leaks for a hundred or so miles, so I guess they must be failing due to poor quality seals???

Were the bores where the seal sit clean of old crud?? changed some on a 2L the other week ans there was a lot of hard crud in there which had nicked the o rings on the way in... I also usea small smear of sealant on assembly.. seems to have done the trick so far..

Check the oil pressure switch on top of the engine. Took ages looking underneath getting cooked while looking for leaks with the engine running, while it was flowing through the where the wires exit the switch!
