Yeh the newcastle ferry doesn't run anymore.
So far, in my research, it's DFDS to Esjberg then a drive up to one of the more nothern ports and on to Oslo or Bergen http://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/?campaign=brand" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's about 20 hours to Denmark then about 130 mile drive I think.
Not all the ferry schedules are up for 2010 yet tho.
We drove up there this year. The story is a mate of a mate wanted a couple of volvos bringing to Norway from the UK so I took them over with a few mate and we had a right laugh. To get to Oslo took about two full days driving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XXBkbwU3qA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
While we are on the subject of Norway, could any of you who live there tell me how practical it is to drive around your fine country this Christmas in a Westfalia Syncro 1.9d and how far do you think i could drive up safely with my three year old son and my wife? How cold does it get up north and how deep does the snow get? Will i need those tyres with the metal studs in? or will i be fine on AT tyres?
