some sections of my guttering need a bit of tlc, and where the hi tip sorta joins the gutter there are a few cracks. i was gonna attack it and see what wanted to come away... but the fix it up whats the best stuff to use? normal body filler? special fibreglass stuff. some dodgy pictures below any advice appreciated.
Dear Faceache, the best bet would be to dig out all the rot and only then decide the best course of action,,,,,,if it doesn't look good at this early stage just imagine what it is going to end up like once it has all been cleaned up.....

Body filler will stick to most things but it is porous so if it is not sealed properly the area you have filled will look just as bad in 3 months time.....
As I said wait till it is cleaned up before asking our advice....

Will tell you a story about poorly maintained gutters and high top seals,
I purchased a 1983 1.6 diesel 2 years ago, it was in need of a few panel replacements but nothing I could not handle, on removing the corroded panels I found other corrosion damage and alot of seals showing heavy corrosion umder filler, I also noticed a few drips of water in the drivers foot well after heavy rain. when I looked deeper I found the gutter seal was not a seal just rubber sitting in the gutter thought I had better remove the old material and reseal. When the roof was lifted to my horror I found that the gutter /tin roof had corroded completely through around 85% of the of its circumference including above the windscreen(thats where the water was comming from) most of the corrosion around the seams and holed panels was caused by water running down behing internal panels and sitting in lagging and eating away at metal. I have been welding inserts into the roof, cut off the entire gutter and replaced, removed the windscreen welded inserts around the seal area replaced the windscreen and roof and resealed everything, this has taken a longtime to complete. I now think I have a water tight van so can concentrate on controlling the corrosion else where. The moral of this story, is make sure all repairs to the Gutter/Roof are top line as it can cause alot of damage, trouble and expence further down the line.
