Snapped throttle cable.

Post by eric »

Hi folks,
Broke down over the weekend after a jaunt in the sea (Ogmore-by-Sea) with grandkids in my new inflatable boat (aka my blowjob!), with a snapped (obviously corroded) cable.

Does anyone know where I can buy one from please?

Thank you guys,

Eric.
ps .. hope everyone who went to Vanfest enjoyed themselves.

I'd see if Bricky has them... or you could try your local VW dealer (might have to go to the local van centre though) if they are friendly and helpfull ... ..... :rofl

Try and get hold of an original VW one if possible - the difference in quality between those and the GSF equivs is very noticeable when they are side by side. Should be around £20-30 from VW...

Thank you for your imput lads .... appreciated.

After communicating with VW, Aidan, Jon (Syncrospares) and Lord Baxter (thanks for your help lads), I now realise details of the engine (among other things of course) are vital. Sadly, I started off on the wrong foot by quoting the original engine details, forgetting that there was a new (recon?) engine bunged in her in 2002 AD. A fact confirmed to me by Gareth (Airman), a fellow Cardiffian who earlier this year kindly popped up to have a dekko at my heap, but I only remembered what he told me about the engine after I sourced a cable from a VW dealership in Middlesbrough when my man in the garage announced it didn't fit. Naturally, I felt like a silly twate. (ffs, get on with it ... Ed).

Anyway, I found a company which could copy the old one ....http://www.speedycables.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so got my mechanic to send it off.

15 days later it is fitted and up to now, works fine. It is very much smoother than the old one and gives me the impression that the bus is quicker off the mark now.

Nice one, wiki'd that. It took me ages to get the right one for my van!
