Eberspacher Assistance UPDATE

Post by JW1 »

I have just spent the morning fault finding and getting the heater to fire up. I also noticed that the exhaust needs replacing on the heater. Part ordered, however, I am after a little help, as I'm occasionally getting sparks from the exhaust currently in place (corroded)? Could this be old carbon deposits burning off as its not been run for a while or should I be looking for another solution?

it could well be a carbon build up.if you can,get your hands on a shotgun cleaning brush.give it a bit of the old in and out.or replace the pipe if its badly corroded..

Mine was blocked completely which is why it wouldnt run. Have you removed it and tried to blow down it?
you might end up with a black ring around your mush but hey.

Is it easy enough to remove? Or would it be easier to go down the shotgun route?

Who hasn't been running their heater regularly throughout the summer as per the manufacturers recommendations then?

I only bought it in July, Did not even realise I had a heater until I went under the van today and saw it there waiting to be tested.

Thanks, Are the majority of the connections to the heater simple to remove and therefore allow me to remove and clean as specified in the 'Bentley Manual' ?

Exhaust is easy to remove, one jubilee clip secures it to the heater then two or three bolts secure it to the underneath of the van.
I take it it's the long one that's an L shape?
Connections are easy enough to remove but the large corrugated pipes if original will be fragile and are almost impossible to find.
Most as I, have replaced them with the foil type.

Eberspacher Assistance

Post by JW1 »

Update,

Just put the exhaust on and all looked well.....Until I looked in the cab and could see smoke!!!!!!! :pimp

Does this mean the heat exchanger is slightly broken (F%$KED?)

Is there anything else I can do or do I need to find a new Heat Exchanger?
