Double skillet - anyone got one? anygood?

am the king of stir frys........is it worth getting one of these....????,... widen my rather limited culinary repertoire...?????

they are very good and versatile, it was the 'oven' feature that I liked.....

Nah.....you don't need a tin opener, the top part of the skillet just lifts off .....................

angelo its the oven feature i was interested in what sort of results did you get .... is it really comparable to an oven...? can you roast stuff etc....?

(",) but try to eat stuff not in tins....had a bad experience at glasto 1 year... me and my mate (few beers on board) tried tocook a fray bentos pie on our campfire.... we punctured holes in the top ...(no tin opener you see) and stuck it on the fire to cook while we drank some more booze... anyway as the pie heated up it started spititng its lava like contents randomly in a 10 yard radius with disastorous consequences melting tents and peoples skin on contact.... we had to make an exclusion zone i kid you not......a harmless looking fray bentos pies can more than adequately simulate a napalm attack and should be treated with extreme CAUTION ..... .... kind of why am looking for oven.....!!!!.....cant go wrong...... can it...????

We had a power cut just as the chicken went into the electric oven, used the skillet in the camper to cook it (and three veg). Great for Pizza, Pasty's, make ypur own bread (if arsed)and cook the sort of food that goes against increasing your culinary skills. Very well made piece of kit. Ours has been used daily since buying it four years ago....

Takes a bit of practice and getting used to, but just follow the instruction guide. When roasting you put the heat diffuser into it and this lifts the food upwards into the skillet so it cooks without burning the underside. Pretty simple and the guide gives you recipes and cooking times so just follow them and .........eat! You can always use them as bog standard non-stick pans and of course you get a glass lid if needed.

only downside i can see is you need gas

try using the cobb!
8 bbq coles approx 2 hrs cooking time.

never thought one could be as good as they are reported , but they are!

mmmmm cob looks good ...but wouldnt it get you get smoked out if used in the van...? looks like an outdoor fing too me....

Cobbs are wicked and I suffer major Cobb envy but they ARE pricey.

Planning wise I expect this skillet would require the same advance planning but in Cornwall this summer a "quick" tea of sausage and mash with sausages on the Cobb took a blimmin age to cook!

Altho, I would probably feel happier leaving the Cobb to cook a chook for a couple of hours than leaving a skillet on a gas flame inside the van in the same way.

The Cobbs are specifically designed for indoor use, the briquette thingies (if you use the cobb specified ones) don't smoke.
