Simple question for a simple man, where is the thermostat on the jx engine? is it under the water pump, is it simple to remove and replace.
all manuals for this topic seem useless
thanks in advance

Water pump is situated underneath the Alternator, 3 pipes , think it is the first pipe in a row of 3 from right hand side of the engine (lower)
bit of a b*gger to get at you have to remove 1 pipe that is attached to a flange 2x10mm bolt -or nuts, prise casing off, you will see thermostat inside of the pump casing. NOTE which way it is fitted might be lodged in tight etc, it just pulls out, re-fit new same way as old 1, came out. you will need a new gasket or spread liberaly with a silicone gasket cement / fix housing back on, and leave for 12 hrs to cure and seal / before coolant is added.-----------
