gettin tired of a slack fanny,should i swap to toothed belt?
yo dudes....im gettin a bit pig sick of always avin to tighten the fan belt on marladys bus.............1y with the original 1.6 n/a alternator and pulleys,should i take the plaunge and convert everytrhin ove rto a toothed belt and automatic adjuster on the alternator,if so what do i need to get,and is wiring the different alternator plug to my loom a problem???...............cheerz in advance

Yo Iggy. Depends on how old your 1Y is, The early Golfs mk3 had a problem with the ribbed tooth belt setup, with the constant tight ribbed belt under preasure from a very strong automatic adjuster spring, and more so on a T25 When you take yer hefty boot off the gas pedal the wide belt dont have any flex init, resulting in crank pulley bolt loosining, then shaged engine syndrome, I am assuming you only have 1 belt setup like me Crank pulley to Alternator to Water pump, You could go the 2 Belt setup, Crank to Water pump. Water pump to Alternator, using the 1.6 JX or CS setup wont pull yer crank bolt out, But VW did improve the crank bolt syndrome on later engines, I only adjust my Alternator belt about every 6 months, So I would advise you to check your pulleys are all in line and give the pully grooves a damm good clean---------------
