theres a hole in my wheel arch...(pic)

Post by purplecrocs »

Been cleaning under the wheel arches and started scraping away some of that hardened foamy stuff thats in there to get to the back of some rusty seams... and I ended up poking a hole through here on the rear wheel arch (this pic facing to the rear) which goes through to some boxed off section... :?

so...firstly, what do I do about the hole?!
and secondly, the couple of areas where I've scraped away the foamy stuff, do i need to fill it back in with anything? (i've vactan'ed it)

Thanks

Looks like a bit of welding is in order or duct tape, i'd go for the first option but you could open a can of worms.....

ok.. can't afford a can of worm's right now so in the short term.. before I seal it up, should I spray some waxoyl in there into that boxed cavity behind? Or vactan... I have some of that...dont know if I can stick that in a plant sprayer and squirt that through maybe so it settles inside...?

what is behind there anyway....is it just an empty void?

Waxoyl is a good idea ..but only in principle.
That stuff is flammable and as you will/should be welding in the near future ...

You can reach the other side of this hole - take off the engine cover, and its at the front end of the snorkel box - that cavity on the right, which has the inside of the rear light unit at the back end. It's a bit awkward to work on, but you should be able to get in with a small wire brush, sandpaper and Vactan.
Cheers, Neil
