1.6 Aircooled engine replace with better Aircooled HELP!

Post by jonnydubu »

Hello there,

I have an Aircooled 1981 t25 devon high top with a 1.6ct engine and it's as slow as a snail with heavy shopping, what would be the best engine to swap it to with little or no rearanging of engine mounts etc, please please please will someone give me some advice on this as getting places at 30mph down the motorway and pulling out of junctions at much less than tortoise pace is a tad dangerous,

Thanks in advance,

Jon.

This is the strangest life I've ever known

2.0 Aircooled? mines not too bad IMO, saw one for sale recently, think its on VZi. I cruise at 50-55 on motorway, pulls quite well. Think you would notice quite a difference

if you go 2.0 which is easiest you also need a gearbox, if you want to do it proper you may need the ducting for the heater ect from the van

i do know of an Aircooled camper van complete for scrap for around the 600 mark
