These pushrod tube things... If you have the 'concertina' type ie. a 'spring' type affair at each end, then these have to be stretched so that the two outside edges of the concertina section (where the inner edge of the seals would sit) measure a distance of 194mm. They don't come pre stretched so often they are put in as they come and often leak.

when I say the same size i was refering to length and they are the same. They are tapered at either end with different circumferences (not spell checked this!) and they can go in only one way. I have been told that the spring loaded won't fit my air cooled engine.

Anyway....took the 2 leaking ones out, one had not been seated correctly and i couldn't tell with the other one so cleaned up both and putand put back in. Fingers crossed!!

Sorry, thought you meant size of seals! The tubes are all the same. The seals are different. I thought you could get telescopic tubes for air cooled but I must have read it wrong

I might be wrong on the telescopics, thought I had read it somewhere on one of the posts on here. I also got new gaskets at vanfest so changed them too this eve. I have a feeling though that I will still need to replace one of the seals as it had a small kink in it. I am also not convinced that this is causing all of my oil leak!!

Took me 3 goes to stop the leaks. It's so easy to nick the edge of a seal. You did clean the seats didn't you, and lubricate the seals, and twist the tubes as you pushed them home? Don't worry, you'll get there! That's what I was told and I didn't believe it either. I did get there thogh. As for this van.......

I did use silicone sealer once, lasted about a year and a half! I've heard of mixed results though.
