Disneyland Paris

Post by binka »

I've just booked a cheap ferry crossing for next month and the plan is to go to Disneyland. I read somewhere that you can park motorhomes in the carpark for 13euros a night and that tehre are loos and showers. Has anyone done this? They will class my van as a motorhome won't they and won't tell me its only for hge winnebagos or something?

The French call the T25 size campervan a 'camping car'. They'll not descriminate against you.

Can't comment on Disleyland.

It would cost £83 each for a 2 day ticket plus £10 a night in the carpark. Or you can get an annual pass for £93 which includes free parking. Ferry was only £64 return and we're going to stock the van up with food so we don't have to pay rip off prices for dinner. I reckon its got to be the cheapest way to do it and hopefully as its Oct and not school holidays it won't be too busy.

I've managed to get the breakdown cover price halved by paying for 2 seperate one day trips rather than a 4 day trip. After all if we're going to be parked up for the 2 days in the middle we're not going to break down on those days. So I figure we only need cover for the day we drive there and the day we drive back.

thanks.

Binka,,,,,The parking spot for Campers/ Motor homes is in an OK spot but is on the far end of the day trippers Car Park, also it is situated about a 1km walk to the Disney complex, it is all clean and wonderful and part of the walk in and out is on a (moving walkway) flat escalator to save your aching legs on each way of the journey.

Cheap anual tickets can be picked up from E-bay for an ounce of the cost of a 2/3 day ticket if bought in advance or on site.

My advice is go and look around the Disney village but don't eat at any of the resturants as it is way to expensive and the choice is limited. (We ate in the Pirates blue Lagoon Resturant £80 for 5 of us, and the next night we ate at the 50's roller cafe £75)

If you do want a treat for your evening meal you can go to any Disney hotel (we stayed at the Sequoia lodge) and try out the evening buffet as it features every kind of food from around the world. IMO this was a far better way of eating each night as the selection was vast,,,,,,,,,,it was expensive BUT worth every penny.( but about 20 quid cheaper than the above)

My advice to you is have a lie in and go late to the main parks (10.30ish) and stay late coz most fools go early and leave early,,,,watch the parades coz they are great,,,,,take bottled water and simply top it up as and when in the toilets where there is drinking water, use the fast track system on the busy rides coz it will pi$$ you off watching people just turning up like VIP'S and jumping on when you have waited in turn to have a go.( on rides like Thunder mountain,,,,,PS the best bit of the ride is underground

The Tower of Terror had just opened when we went,,,,ensure you all go on it together coz the first ride is the best ever....

Go and watch the stunt show, as this is very, very good, but might be an idea to leave to the last show of the day.
The Disney studio tour is also very very good, try not to miss out on the 3D show and the Animation workshop and since we have been there is a LILO and Stitch show which is said to be very good.......

The Aerosmith coaster is al;so worth the entry money, and a bit un nerving when a full car of people leaves the start point , yet when the car arrives it is empty ,,,

One you must all go on no matter the length of the que has to be Crushes Coaster,,,,,how cool must it be to ride on a rear facing coaster and then be spun round to do the last half facing forward.....

Anyway enjoy it and stay till it closes coz you from 4pm most of the rides are empty and you can stay on for ride after ride....

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,

PS, don't forget to have a walk round the lake beyond the Disney Village as it leads you to the rear entrances to all the Disney Hotels, but can end up a million miles away from where you are parked,,,,,,,Also don't be afraid to jump on any of the Free hotel busses which park next to the SNCF/Metro and have a walk about in each hotel,,,,some have swimming pools and all have bars which will have great pleasure in taking the shirt off your back......

PPS, Don't buy anything till you have had a good look round, remember the Disney Village is Expensive,,,,,we found our best bargins in the Gift Shop in the Studio tour area.

I will post some usefull independant links to Euro disney once I can find them....

Read and follow this one to the letter, you will not go far wrong with the advice given....

http://homepages.which.net/~ian/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

PPSS, Try to stay off The Small World ride as it will drive you senseless...........
One day you will find me,,
Driving in my Camper,
With a Surf and Paisley wrap on both sides....

Fritz speak with sensible tongue -- agree with all he says .
We took our three when little , terrific , only once in their lives ( with parents , anyway ) and they LOVED the buffalo bill show in evening , food with that was ok too and not too expensive ( 2001 though ).
The evenings are ace .
Thunder mountain is ace , and surprisingly necky .
but the best (ever ) is pirates .of the caribbean - i could float down that every day !
